Sales for the HSBC Sevens event this month in Wellington are already selling at the point of last years, and likely to be even higher.
The two day Rugby event is held at Westpac Stadium, as part of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series. Known for filling the streets of Wellington with crazy costumes, the Sevens is in its 17th year, with New Zealand winning in both the past two years.
“Ticket sales are up on the same point as last year, and we are looking forward to an even larger crowd at the stadium at the end of January,” said Wellington Sevens General Manager Steve Dunbar.
“Wellingtonians embraced the Sevens as it was, now the event has evolved and it is a different event that offers something for everyone. We are confident locals and others will see that the event has grown to become a live sports entertainment they can be proud of and would like to see become iconic again.”
“From the Mix Zone to the Family Zone – it really is a party for all. From $7 kid’s single day tickets including food and drink to a top line up of Kiwi music and the best of Wellington food offering, we have listened to what people are telling us they want at the Sevens. We have made changes to the event that we are proud of and we are confident will see people coming back through the gate.”
“The Wellington Sevens is one of the few premier global sports events New Zealand hosts. It puts Wellington on the world stage alongside other iconic host cities such as Hong Kong, Las Vegas and Dubai and we are confident that Wellingtonians will get back in behind the event and show our pride in our city to the world.”
Wellington has secured the Sevens for a following 2 years, after an extensive review last May.
