This years annual Harbour Cleanup resulted in a massive 8000 litres of rubbish being collected from the ocean floor.

This is largest amount of rubbish collected in the history of the annual cleanup event.

Those involved were 30 divers, over 30 shore crew, and Wellington Mayor Justin Lester – who alone hauled out 4 big bags of bottles and rubbish from the sea bed in his 70min dive.

Weather conditions were very poor with wind and surface chop and poor visibility.

This event was run by ghostfishing.org – Global Underwater Explorers – Halcyon Dive Systems.
