Over 1000 people turned up to help support the NZ Pug Rescue at an event held in the city.
For a gold coin donation, you were able to give a hug to one of the many pugs brought in by local pug owners.
At least $3000 was raised as a result of the raffle during the day (drawn by Prime Minister Bill English).
NZ Pug Rescue are a non-profit organisation who take on pugs in need of re-homing. Most of these pugs are elderly, with disabilities or serious health conditions which results in high vet bills.
Looks like everyone loved to hug the pugs!
