The rooftop of a large building in central Wellington was on fire this morning after a loud bang.
The building was evacuated and emergency services were at the scene immediately.
Police have reported that nobody was injured or unaccounted for.
The building is 14 stories high and on on Willeston St. It was built in the 1980’s by the Colonial Mutual Life Insurance Company.
Heavy smoke could be seen from across the city, but the flames inside were not too large in comparison.
