UPDATE: This afternoon a 29 year old local man has been charged in relation to the crash on the corner of Ruapehu Street and Riwai Street last night. He will be facing charges of Dangerous Driving, Driving while forbidden and failing to remain at a crash scene. He will be appearing in the Porirua District Court at a later date. The dog hurt during the crash has minor injuries and is recovering with the family.
At approximately 11:30pm on Saturday 9th December Kapiti Police attended a vehicle crash on the corner on Ruapehu Street and Riwai Street, Paraparaumu. During the crash, a person driving this vehicle lost control and crashed through the side of a house causing extensive damage to the address and injuring a dog that had been sleeping on a chair inside. The driver of the vehicle left the scene and was not located.
Police are following strong lines of enquiries to identify this person, however Police are appealing for any witnesses to the crash or anyone else that may have information to assist with their enquiries.
