Summer is here and so is blueberry picking season!
Most blueberry picking farms around Wellington are currently closed but the one that is open (and our favourite!) is located in Pauatahanui.
Blueberry Picking Wellington (Pukeawa Blueberries) has 2 orchards open for PYO (Pick your own) this summer.
When you arrive, you’ll get given a bucket that is tied around your waist so you have both hands free for picking blueberries. One orchard is for families with kids, and the other orchard is adults only (for peace and quiet whilst picking).
The bushes are full of big yummy blueberries.
It’s $22 for the bucket (around 1.6 – 1.8kg) which is WAY cheaper than in the supermarkets.
They’re open every day except for Monday. Starting from 8.30am, they will generally be open till 5pm but will close early if the days picking is done. Before you go, check their website to see if they are open.
Their address is 405 Paekakeriki Hill Road, Pauatahanui, Porirua, 5381.
There is limited parking available so if coming with friends, all go in one car.
The driveway is thin so make sure there’s no car coming out before you drive in.
Grab your family and friends and make sure you visit this summer!
