At approximately 12:30am this morning Kapiti Police received a complaint regarding the theft of a motor vehicle from an address in the Paraparaumu Beach area.
Approximately 1 hour later, the vehicle, a small Suzuki Swift was located travelling south on Manly Street, Paraparaumu. Police attempted to stop the vehicle however it initially made an attempt to evade Police, stopping a short time later.
On approaching the vehicle, Police discovered the driver to be a 13 year old female and a further 8 passengers, ranging in age from 10 to 16 years were located inside, with the majority being unrestrained.
Police were disappointed by the poor decisions of not only the driver of this stolen vehicle, but all occupants for putting their life’s and other road users at risk in an extremely dangerous situation.
All occupants were returned to their caregivers, and have been referred to Youth Aid Services.
